An independent, non-profit, Egyptian research foundation, "think tank,"…founded in 2004 with a view to study the issues of strategic nature associated with the global variables and their repercussions on the domestic, regional and international levels..
Idea & Goal
Out of understanding the dimensions of the developing world order, the accelerative thrust towards globalization and its repercussions on the international and regional relations in all fields, and the importance of interacting with them in a positive manner in context of a clear futuristic vision with the aim of contributing in developing strategies, methods and mechanisms to confront the resulting problems; ICFS is seeking to fulfill its mission through organizing and managing a set of research units with specific objectives serving the project of promoting all aspects of the Egyptian society as follows:

Socio culture studies unit:-
- Program of fighting extremism, violence and terrorism.
- Youth culture program.
- Sustainable Development and the societal participation program.

Regional security studies unit:-
- The Iranian studies program.
- Program of solving regional conflicts and crises in context of the peace culture.
- Program of studying international and regional variables and their implications on the Egyptian national security.

Advanced training and research cooperation unit:-
- The scholarship program for non-Egyptians researchers (Arab countries / the Middle East / Asia).
- Training program of young researchers and active cadres in the society (media men / writers / mid level leaders / non-governmental organizations).
- Joint research cooperation and projects program.

Media and informatics studies unit:-
- Program of analyzing and dealing with the directions of the satellites channels and electronic media.
- Program of media coordination and expanding the base of effect.
- Program of developing the websites, e-publishing and marketing the website.

The activity determinants
The guiding principle governing the work of ICFS is that the truth, the objectivity and the free of speech constitute the base of the dialogue for sake of the future…through the scientific contribution in the intellectual life, enhancing the cooperation between the academics, intellectuals and public figures and building a link to communicate with studies centers and thinks tanks in Egypt and the world to draw contemporary and futuristic results and analyses in accordance with the traditions of scientific research and thinking; putting into consideration the main effective factors and on the top of which:-
- The emergence of new world order…the ICFS is studying the mechanisms of activating the Egyptian role in the light of the world order and its new facts during radical regional and global variables that have important repercussions on the regional security.
- The growing phenomenon of extremism, armed violence and terrorism…which necessitates local, regional and international coordinated efforts to fight this destructive phenomenon and maintain the world security, stability and peace.
- The growing electronic and knowledge gap between the developed and developing countries with the accelerating technological advancement in all fields…and the revolution in the media and communication means…and the resulting effect on the societies’ growth and development rates and their competitiveness, values, traditions and internal stability.
- The importance of the sustainable human development with the aim of creating and developing qualified scientific cadres able to deal with the age’s tools…and activate with its mechanisms and latest developments; an issue became a must for the process of development and progress in different fields through the effective participation of all the society’s sectors especially women and youth.
Organizational Structure
The center’s organizational structure has been designed to be a standard for the independent think-tanks, supported by a digital system equipped with developed research tools and methods to supply information instantly and continuously as well as to produce and publish the intellectual output by the most developed multi media.

Board of Trustees:-
The board is in charge of formulating policies and the general framework of the scientific activity and research units in accordance with ICFS’ goals…The Board of trustees hold regular biyearly meetings. It may hold meetings to discuss specific issues...ICFS’ executive director is in charge of the general secretariat of the Board. The Chairman of the Board has the authority to invite what he deemed necessary of experts and advisors to attend the Board’s sessions. The Board is composed of:

Executive Board:
It includes the heads of the main research and executive units and is responsible for the following:-
- Discussing and approving the plans of the different research units, and coordinating between them. Drawing up and managing the detailed plans for carrying on the research activity in various areas.
- Planning and organizing scholarships, and training courses for researchers from ICFS and outside, with the ICFS’ capabilities or in cooperation with other research centers and institutes.
- Organizing external relations, research cooperation, mutual support and scientific visits in exchange with local and foreign research centers and institutions.
- Determining the framework of the plan regarding general publishing, electronic publishing and research services.

Advisory Board:-
ICFS scientific advisory board is composed of a group of distinguished academics, specialist experts and public figures. It provides scientific advice on matters presented to it in relation with the scientific research plan and research programs. The members of the board also participate in the ICFS’ scientific and practical activities, either individually or collectively, depending on the nature and requirements of the respective activity. The advisory board holds regular & private meetings in accordance with the general plan of the different research units…whether in plenary meetings or in specialized groups depending on the subject and the nature of each activity.

Saad Hagras Writer – general managing editor - al-Alam al-Youm newspaper. Essam Refa’at Writer and the editor-in-chief - al-Ahram al-Eqtesadi. Dr. Ali Islam The former head of the Atomic Energy Agency. Dr. Fa’eqa al-Refai Economic expert – the former deputy of the Central Bank governor. Mahfouz al-Ansari the former chairman of the Middle East News Agency -MENA. Makram Mohamed Ahmed Writer and thinker – the former chief of al-Helal House. Nabil Othman The former chief of State Information Service. The center collaborates with a large and distinguished group of specialized experts. They play a main role by their contribution in the ICFS’ different research activities, and periodical and special publications.

The staff:-
ICFS depends, in developing databases and organizing and managing its research activities, on an integrated teamwork includes scientific cadres of youth researchers in different scientific fields of the center's fields of interest and a team of colleagues from outside ICFS supporting and enriching the research activity.
